1. - May I speak to Ann，please？ 請(qǐng)找安接電話，好嗎？

- Certainly. Hold on, please. 當(dāng)然可以。請(qǐng)稍候。

Hold on, please.是接電話時(shí)告訴對(duì)方請(qǐng)稍等的用語(yǔ)，還可以用Wait a minute, please. / Just a minute, please. / One moment, please.等。

2. Everything was ready. 一切準(zhǔn)備就緒。

be ready to do sth意為"準(zhǔn)備好做某事"，be ready for sth 意為"為某事作好準(zhǔn)備"。例如：

They are ready to leave. 他們準(zhǔn)備離開。

They are ready for lunch. 他們準(zhǔn)備吃中飯。

3. But there was no time to think. 可是沒有時(shí)間考慮了。

There is no time (for sb ) to do...意思是"（某人）沒有時(shí)間做......"。例如：

There is no time for her to play.她沒有時(shí)間去玩。

4. There was nothing but a card in it. 里面除了一張卡片之外什么也沒有。

nothing but意為"只有；除......之外什么也沒有"，這里的but是介詞，意為"除了"。這句話可以改為There was only a card in it.

5. My first three letters are the same as in the word "come". 我的前三個(gè)字母和come的前三個(gè)字母相同。

the same as 意為"和......相同"。例如：

My interest in reading is the same as his. 我的閱讀興趣跟他的相同。

6. Becky, turned it over and read， "Come and look for me in the study." 貝基，把那張卡片翻轉(zhuǎn)過來(lái)并讀道："請(qǐng)到書房來(lái)找我。"

turn... over意為"把......翻過來(lái)/轉(zhuǎn)過身"。例如：

She turned over and went to sleep. 她轉(zhuǎn)過身就睡著了。
