1. Iron doesn't rust in dry air. 在干燥的空氣中鐵不容易生銹。
在此處rust作不及物動(dòng)詞，說明主語的特征。謂語動(dòng)詞要用主動(dòng)形式。常見的同類動(dòng)詞有：sell, write, dry, wash, open, move, lock等。例如：
The oranges sell well. 這些橘子很暢銷。
注意區(qū)分：系動(dòng)詞taste, look, smell, feel, sound等后面要接形容詞作表語。例如：
The oranges taste good. 橘子嘗起來好吃。

拓展:1) be used to do sth. 被用來做某事。例如：
Wood can be used to make paper. 木材可以用來造紙。
2) be/get used to sth./ doing sth. 習(xí)慣于做某事。例如：
He was used to sleeping with the windows open. 他習(xí)慣敞著窗子睡覺。
4. The Noble Prize is the highest scientific prize there is，so we should be very proud of that。諾貝爾獎(jiǎng)是科技領(lǐng)域曾有過的最高獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)，因此我們應(yīng)以此為驕傲。
此處there is 是定語從句，修飾prize，表示曾有過的。例如：

5. ...as both are supposed to have good physics Departments.因?yàn)閮伤髮W(xué)都應(yīng)該有最好的物理系。
be supposed to +不定式短語，可以表示"應(yīng)該""理應(yīng)"含有"本來應(yīng)該做某事，而事實(shí)上并非如此"之意。例如：
Everyone is supposed to wear a seat belt in the car. 坐車時(shí)每個(gè)人都應(yīng)該系安全帶。
